After our tour of the Gardens we will then take you to our Drying Shed where we will demonstrate to you how to arrange a floral centrepiece. Then it's your turn to select blooms from ourfloral assortment and start creating your own masterpiece, you will receive one-on-one support and guidance throughout the workshop. "It takes a community to feed a community" As part of Mary Valley Country Harvest Co-op’s jam-packed Purposeful Patch Planning project, custodians of the Mitchell Creek Festival site Jimmy Budgen and his partner, Mary Valley Country Harvest Member Kylie Cowling invite you to visit their 90 acre property which hosts a successful yearly camping and music festival, but also is the site for a 25 x 25m market garden which supplies mostly herbs and salad mixes for the Cooperative and local community. Nestled between rainforest, forestry and neighbouring organic farms this scenic location hosts a variety of wildlife and of course the Creek. The tour starts in the Market Garden, with a discussion of the current practices and methods as well as a salad harvest demonstration and then sampling over a light lunch. After lunch there is a tour of the property discussing the history of the land, current weed control and the recent flood mitigation. After, visit "Amamoorish Native Limes”, who for 5 years have focused on organic native foods. Finger lime, Burdekin and Davidson's plums are just some of the native foods currently being grown for local and regional markets.
